Cattle smuggling: 1 killed,3 BSF men injured at Bangla border

A suspected smuggler has been killed while three BSF jawans were injured in various incidents of cattle smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
The first incident occurred along the border outpost Angrail along the international border in West Bengal where a group of suspected smugglers attacked a Border Security Force patrol in the wee hours yesterday after the troops tried to stop the illegal crossing over of cattle to the neighbouring country.
"Constable Sanjay Kumar of the force sustained wound injuries on his fingers when the patrol party was trying to stop the smuggling of cattle to Bangladesh from the Indian side. He was attacked by the smugglers with a sharp-edged 'dah' or small sword," a senior official said.

In the second incident which occurred around the same time along Khalshi border oupost in the state, a group of smugglers surrounded a BSF party as they stopped them from taking cattle to Bangladesh and BSF trooper Sanjeev Kumar fired a bullet which killed a suspected Indian smuggler.
"Constable Sandeep Kumar and Abdul Karim were grievously injured in this attack and they have been shifted to a nearby hospital," the officer said.
In the third incident that took place on the same day at about 5:50 AM along the Bithari border outpost, BSF troops intercepted a group of smugglers who pelted them with stones in retaliation.

"Constable Pankaj Kumar fired one round as he sensed danger to his life and weapon, as a result of which, one Bangladeshi cattle smuggler sustained bullet injury but he rushed across the border," the officer said.
All the three injured BSF personnel are stable and under medical treatment, they said.
In the last six years, along the South Bengal border area of the Indo-Bangla frontier, 4 BSF personnel have been killed while 353 have been injured as they intercepted to stop cattle smuggling which is prevalent along these areas.
