CBI sources said a case was registered under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the allegations that Sub-Inspector Ravi Shankar posted at Nabi Karim was demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant for granting him bail in a case being investigated by him.
"On negotiation, the bribe was subsequently reduced to Rs 25,000. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from the complainant. Searches are being conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused," CBI spokesperson said here today.
