CBI sources said A Chandrasekhar Rao, Deputy Drugs Controller of Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, was arrested under provisions of Prevention of Corruption for allegedly demanding bribe of Rs one lakh for renewal of licence of the blood bank of complainant.
The agency spokesperson said searches were conducted at the residential premises of the accused and Rs 27 lakh in cash apart from gold jewellery and property documents was seized.
"CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting an illegal gratification of Rs. 50,000 as first installment out of total demand of Rs. One lakh from the complainant," CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad said in a statement here.
