CBI Special Judge Sarvjeet Kumar held Central Excise and Customs department's former inspector Samarendra Singh guilty of amassing assets more than known sources of his income and sentenced him to three years in jail.
Besides, the court also slapped a fine of Rs 2.5 lakh on him.
The officer had acquired disproportionate assets of Rs 42.13 lakh between 1984 and 1996 through illegal and corrupt means by misusing his official position.
CBI had lodged the case in 1996 against the inspector and produced 30 witnesses in support of it.
