CBI today said it would give a copy of the supplementary charge sheet, filed by it, to the lawyers of West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra who has been arrested in connection with the Saradha chit-fund scam.
During a hearing of Mitra's bail plea by a division bench of the Calcutta High Court, the minister's lawyers told the court that they were yet to receive copies of the supplementary charge sheet filed by CBI against Mitra and statements made by him before a magistrate under Section 164 of the CrPC.
In response to this, CBI's counsel said copies of the supplementary charge sheet and statement would be given to Mitra's lawyers by March 27.
The matter would come up for hearing again on April 1.
Mitra is in judicial remand since his arrest by CBI for alleged complicity in the multi-crore rupee Saradha chitfund scam.
