The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved extensions in the tenure of four additional solicitor generals of India - Mehta, Maninder Singh, P S Narsimha and Pinky Anand - till June 30, 2020, it said, without giving other details.
Mehta's appointment as special public prosecutor in the 2G cases on February 8 follows the acquittal of all 19 accused, including former telecom minister A Raja and DMK lawmaker Kanimozhi, in 2G spectrum scam by a CBI court here on December 21 last year.
The committee has also approved appointment of senior advocate Maninder Acharya as additional solicitor general of India for the Delhi High Court, till June 30, 2020, it said.
