The Centre is keeping a close vigil on the activities of terror outfit ISIS to check its entry into the country, Union Minister of State for Home Haribhai P Chaudhary said today.
"We are closely monitoring the ISIS activities. Not just in Hyderabad, we have also caught those who are doing it online (reportedly some are in touch with ISIS through social media). Some youths may get misguided, but the government has kept a strict vigil on ISIS activities to check its entry into India," he told reporters here.
The minister was responding to a query on steps taken by the NDA-led BJP government at the Centre to check the spread of ISIS in the country and in places like Hyderabad, where the police has claimed to have caught several youths who were allegedly planning to join the ISIS and also counseled them.
Meanwhile, to a poser on the Dadri lynching episode, Chaudhary said the government strongly condemns the incident.
"The law and order situation in UP is not good. Communal incidents happen regularly and that too in small villages. (Maintaining) law and order is a state subject, the Home Ministry issues advisory when such incidents happen," he said.
When asked about Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan's seeking intervention of the United Nations over the incident, the minister said, "He keeps on telling anything".
Earlier, addressing a gathering after witnessing the 23rd RAF (Rapid Action Force) Day celebrations at the premises of 99 RAF in Hakimpet on city outskirts, Chaudhary said five new RAF units have also been sanctioned by the Centre to augment the strength of the force.
