Chain snatchers caught red handed by public, beaten up

: Two motorcycle borne youths who tried to flee after snatching a woman's seven sovereign gold chain were nabbed and thrashed by the public and later handed over to police at Karamadai in the rural limits today.
The 27-year old womam was on her way to meet her relative when the youths accosted her, snatched the chain and tried to flee. However the woman raised an alarm and passersby chased the duo, caught and thrashed them and handed them over to police
Police said preliminary enquiries revealed that the duo had stolen the bike parked near a theatre.
