Cheated chit fund depositors stage rally

Lakhs of investors in various chit funds companies, including the Saradha Chit Fund, who were cheated of their hard-earned savings, today staged a protest-rally here demanding their money back.
A committee, which is fighting for the defrauded depositors, submitted a memorandum to the SEBI office in Kolkata.
The rally was conducted from College Square to Esplanade.
"All the culprits and those who have helped these chit fund companies to flourish should be arrested immediately. Not only should they be arrested, but the money taken by them should also be returned to the depositors," state Opposition leader Surya Kanta Mishra said.
"The Prime Minister has promised to bring back the black money. But the owners of chit fund companies and those who helped them should be arrested immediately. What is stopping them from doing so?" Mishra said.
Later, a delegation, led by Congress MLA Sukbilas Barma, CPI(M) leader Sujan Chakraborty,Amitava Majumdar went to SEBI office in Kolkata and submitted a deputation.
