A five-day mega Chenab Valley youth festival began here with over 1100 college students and teachers from all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir coming together to showcase their talent.
General Officer Commanding, Delta Force, Maj Gen Rajiv Nanda inaugurated the festival 'Sangam 2018-19' which was organised by Bhadarwah campus of Jammu University in collaboration with a local Army unit.
The tag line of the festival is 'let's build our nation', officials said.
They said over 1100 students and teachers from 32 colleges, including 10 from Kashmir and one from Ladakh, have come together, thus becoming the first campus where the students from all the three regions - Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh - are participating.
Students showcased their skills in dancing and singing during the opening ceremony which was attended by senior army, police, civil and prominent persons, they said.
Nanda congratulated the organizers for the event and said the cultural programme presented by the students depicted mutual harmony and brotherhood which is an integral part of the culture of Chenab valley.
A total of 30 different competitions namely debate, sketching, clay modelling, photography, athletics, chess, badminton for girls, quiz, painting, marathon, volleyball, kabaddi and cricket would be conducted during the five day festival.
Several educational and motivational lectures would also be delivered by various dignitaries during the event, the officials said.
