Cheryl Boone Isaacs is new Academy president

Cheryl Boone Isaacs has become the first African-American to be elected as the new president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Boone Isaacs, who was elected by the organization's board of governors, is only the third woman to lead the 86-year-old Academy. She served as Academy first vice president during the past year.
Boone Isaacs succeeds Hawk Koch, who served a one-year term as president, a statement on the Academy website said.
She currently heads CBI Enterprises, Inc, where she has consulted on such films as "The Call", "The Artist", "The King's Speech", "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire" and "Spider-Man 2". She produced the 4th annual Governors Awards for the Academy this year.

Boone Isaacs previously served as president of theatrical marketing for New Line Cinema and prior to that she was executive vice president of worldwide publicity for Paramount Pictures.
