Sujata alias Nani was arrested in 2005 upon a builder's complaint. According to police, Rajan gang was targeting builders in Eastern Mumbai for ransom, and Sujata controlled the gang's operations in Rajan's absence.
Her application says the provisions of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act are not applicable against her. It will come up for hearing in due course.
This is the second application filed by her.
A city builder had filed a police complaint alleging that Rajan gang had threatened him, demanding ransom. He stated that he had delivered Rs five lakh to Sujata at her residence in suburban Chembur sometime in 2004.
Rajan's younger brother Prakash too is an accused in the case.
