Chief Minister asks service organisations to call off strike

The cabinet at its meeting today decided to implement the scheme with effect from April 1 next for employees joining the state services after that date, he told reporters here.

Government employees and teachers affiliated to pro-left service organiations have called the strike from January 8.

Stating that new PPS would be applicable only to those who join the service after April 1 next, Chandy said minimum pension would be guaranteed to them and they would also be entitled for family pension.

On other cabinet decisions, Chandy said sanction for amendments in building rules have been given.

The Cabinet has given the approval for bringing in necessary amendments to existing building rules in the state.

It has been decided to implement the new pay scale for the employees of Kerala Press Academy and State Institute of Rural Development with effect from July 2009, he said.

The accident insurance amount for school children would be increased. In case of death the amount was increased to Rs 50,000 from Rs 10,000, and in the case of injury sustained, insurance cover has been increased up to a maximum of Rs 10,000.

"The scheme will be implemented through State Insurance Department," he added.
