The Himachal Pradesh government has taken a number of steps to increase transparency and facilitate ease of doing business, the state chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has said.
"There is a sea change in the attitude and environs in the state towards industry and the ease of doing business has increased with the government switching to online clearances and ensuring time-bound clearance of industrial projects and sanction for purchase of land under section 118 of Tenancy and Land Reforms Act," said Sanjay Khurana, Chairman of CII Himachal Pradesh State Council.
He added that these steps have increased efficiency, brought in transparency and reduced corruption.
Talking to reporters here, Khuranasaid poor roads and lack of rail connectivity in industrial areas are impediments to the state's growth and the state government should work expeditiously to address these issues.
"CII had also brought to the notice of the government the problems faced by the industry by cartelisation of freight by transporters and ... The chief minister has assured that he will take steps to overcome this problem," he said.
Replying to a question, he said that there was no flight of industry from the state following withdrawal of industrial package and argued that 10-15 per cent industries shutting down due to various reasons was normal.
He said that expansion proposals of existing units with investment of Rs 1,500 crore was an indication of the state's healthy industrial environment.
