CISF plays key role in country's economic growth: Ex-DG

To ensure continued economic growth of the country, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has a very significant role to play by providing safe and secure economic environment, former Director General of CISF, Surender Singh, said here today.
Singh was addressing the passing-out-parade of the 30th batch of Assistant Commandants and the 42nd Batch Sub-Inspectors at the National Industrial Security Academy (NISA) at Hakimpet here, an official release said.
Calling upon the officers of CISF to prepare themselves to effectively meet the emerging challenges posed by new forms of terrorism and insurgency, Singh appealed to the officers to discharge their duties with sincerity and dedication to take CISF to over greater heights of glory in future.
A total of 28 Assistant Commandants and 521 Sub-Inspectors passed out of the Academy after completion of their basic training, the release added.
The training covered wide array of subjects, including industrial security management, aviation security, disaster management, VIP security, leadership and laws.
It also covered outdoor activities like Parkour, Krav-Maga, urban tactics, jungle warfare, weapon training on latest weapons like assault rifle, MP-5, glock pistol, physical training, swimming, field crafts and tactics etc, the release added.
Singh said the CISF has truly evolved into a modern, multi-dimensional, tech savvy force of the nation providing integrated security cover to the vital and strategic assets, including vital economic and commercial assets of the country such as airports, seaports, oil and gas pipelines, space and atomic energy installations, important government buildings, iconic mass rapid transportation systems.
"Started with strength of around three battalions, CISF has grown to the strength that stands close to one lakh forty four thousand personnel, which is a testimony to the trust reposed by the nation in this remarkable force," he said.
Jagbir Singh, Director-NISA said the Academy has completed 25 years of service in the field of training in industrial security management and celebrated its 'Silver Jubilee Year' in 2015.
