Civil Aviation Minister to unveil MUDRA in Pondy tomorrow

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju will unveil the 'MUDRA' (Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency) promotion campaign here tomorrow, Chief Secretary Manoj Parida said today.
He said the scheme was part of several important steps taken by the union government to ensure a spurt in the economy and also in enabling small and enterprising sections of traders and entrepreneurs get loans from banks without facing any difficulties.
Parida said the three fold features of MUDRA is to provide loans (free of collateral security) upto Rs 50,000 under 'Sishu' scheme, beyond Rs 50,000 and uptoRs five lakh under 'Kishore' and beyond Rs five lakh and upto Rs 10 lakh under 'Tarun' category.
The function has been organised jointly by Puducherry government and the State Level Bankers Committee.
Parida said 1.20 lakh accounts have been opened in Puducherry so far under Prime Minister's 'Jan Dhan Yojana.'
The campaign will also bring to focus other systems of banking operations, including digital transaction, linking of Aadhaar with bank accounts and benefits arising out of the three social security insurance schemes (Jeevan Jyothi Bhima Yojana, Jeevan Suraksha scheme and Atal Pension scheme).
Zonal Manager of Indian Bank here Veeraraghavan said the MUDRA promotion campaign here would be marked by loan melas, projection of various success stories, functioning of the insurance related programmes and digital transation.
Chandrasekar, lead District Manager of Indian Bank (the convenor of SLBC here) said the Centre has set a target of Rs 208 crore under MUDRA for the 2017-18 fiscal for Puducherry.
He said Rs 87.07 crore had been disbursed so far under MUDRA scheme, benefitting 10,089 persons, to embark on enterprises and other trading activities.
