Clerk suspended for 'misappropriation' of widow pension money

A clerk in the district probation office here has been suspended for alleged misappropriation of over Rs 50,000 meant for widow pension scheme, a senior official said today.
Mehboob Ali was suspended yesterday for misappropriation of funds meant to be disbursed under the Widow Pension Scheme, DM Nikhil Chand Shukla told news men here today.
A case has been registered against Ali and his three relatives, the DM said, adding accused were absconding.
The clerk has allegedly opened fake accounts in the name of his relatives and siphoned off money.
Chief Development Officer Avinash Kumar would conduct the inquiry, the DM said.
