Indian Coast Guard Ship C-407 was commissioned by K S Balasubramanian, Kerala Director General of Police.
The induction of interceptor boat in Coast Guard will enhance the capability of the Coast Guard towards coastal security, Search and Rescue and enforcement of Maritime laws off Kerala coast.
C- 407 is the seventh in its series of Interceptor Boat built by M/s L and T Ship Yard Ltd, Surat with 27.8 Mtrs length and 106.3 Ton Displacement.
The vessel is commanded by Dy Commandant D C Mathpal with crew complement of eleven Personnel.
The vessel is fitted with latest state of art navigation and communication equipment and medium range armament. It will be based at Vizhinjam.
The Indian Coast Guard is planning to activate an air squadron here to strengthen coastal security, Inspector General S P S Basra, Commander Coast Guard Region (West) said.
Speaking at the launch of Indian Coast Guard Ship C-407 at Vizhinjam harbour here, he said over the years, Coast Guard has been able to achieve a steadfast growth by adding more surface and air assets to its fleet for countering various maritime threats.
