Dr C Palanivelu, Chairman, GEM Hospital, along with John Hunters of USA were honored with the fellowship and a shield, for their outstanding contribution in the development of Laparoscpic and endoscopic surgery at global level, an hospital release claimed today.
This was the first time eminent surgeons were honored at the Congress, held last month, in which more than 3,500 surgeons from across the Globe, attended, it said.
Founder of Assoiciation of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI), Palanivelu was a recipient of Dr B C Roy National Award under the category of speciality of medicine in 2006.
