Culture Secretary N K Sinha released a commemorative non-circulation coin of Rs 500 and a circulation coin of Rs 10 here as part of year-long celebrations, an official release said.
In 1515, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who propagated the worship of Lord Krishna and popularised the chanting of 'Hare Krishna' Mantra', visited Vrindavan with the objective of locating the lost holy places associated with Krishna's transcendental pastimes, it added.
The government is commemorating the 500th anniversary of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's coming to Vrindavan by organising various programmes and exhibitions on his life and teachings in association with Vrindavan Research Institute and ISKCON.
