Cold breeze sweeps Delhi as mercury dips to 8.9 deg C

A cold breeze swept the national capital today making it chilly despite the minimum temperature settling at 8.9 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average.
Also, the maximum temperature witnessed a drop from yesterday and settled at 19.1 degrees, a notch below average.
There was shallow fog in the morning with visibility at Palam and Safdarjung being recorded at 2,200 and 1,200 metres, respectively, at 5.30 AM, said an official from the MeT department.
Visibility at Palam and Safdarjung dropped to 1,000 and 800 metres, respectively, by 8.30 AM, the official added.
Rail traffic was affected as 28 trains were running late by several hours, while 10 others were rescheduled, said an official from Railways.

Humidity oscillated between 95 and 70 per cent.

The MeT office has forecast partly cloudy skies for tomorrow with the likelihood of shallow fog in the morning.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 19 and 7 degrees Celsius, respectively, today," the weatherman said.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 24 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 8.6 degrees Celsius.
