Keylong and Kalpa recorded minimum temperature at minus 0.2 degree and 1.6 degrees Celsius respectively, while Bajaura was coldest with a low of minus 2.5 degrees Celsius.
Lower hills of Kullu and Mandi reeled under severe cold wave conditions with mercury hovering around the freezing point and dipping to zero degrees Celsius at Bhuntar and 0.6 degrees Celsius at Sundernagar.
Dharamsala and Shimla were warmer with a low of 9.8 degrees Celsius and 9 degrees Celsius respectively. Nahan recorded 8.7 degrees Celsius, Una 5.6 degrees Celsius and Palampur 5.2 degrees Celsius.
High-altitude tribal areas shivered under biting cold wave conditions with minimum temperatures staying between minus 5.0 degrees Celsius and minus 10 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperatures stayed marginally above normal and Unawas hottest during the day with a high of 26.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Solan 22.5 degrees Celsius, Nahan 22 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar 21.1 degrees Celsius, Shimla 20. 6 degrees Celsius and Dharamshala 18.2 degrees Celsius
A "white Christmas" is unlikely as day temperatures are high and no chances of rains or snow in next few days, officials said.
The dry spell is continuing with rain deficit rising to 94 per cent from October 1 to December 23 while the local Met office has predicted dry weather in the region for next six days from December 24 to December 29.
