"In the context of globalisation, it is evident that MSE units lay more emphasis in maintaining quality, cost competitiveness and technological upgradation. Moreover, NALCO is always eager to support MSEs, in whatever way that is feasible," NALCO CMD Ansuman Das said while addressing the 19th Plant Level Advisory Committee (PLAC) Meeting here.
Stating that NALCO had placed orders worth Rs 294 crore on MSE units in 2013-14, Das said concrete efforts put in both by Nalco and MSE units, with support from government bodies concerned, have helped to build up a rising trend in the business dealings between NALCO and the MSE units.
The park is a joint venture between Nalco and Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation.
"NALCO has committed to supply 50,000 MT hot metal to the Joint Venture Company. Odisha based industries should take advantage of it," Das said.
Odisha's MSME department secretary Panchanan Dash advised all District Industries Centres (DICs) in the state to be more active as facilitators between NALCO and the MSEs.
A booklet printed by NALCO for Micro and Small Enterprises was also released on the occasion.
The items identified for purchases from MSE/Ancillary units were also detailed out. Nalco has given ancillary status to 57 MSEs of the state.
Participants at the PLAC included officials of government, representatives of Odisha Small Scale Industries Association, Odisha Young Entrepreneurs Association, Odisha Assembly of Small and Medium Enterprises, Utkal Chambers of Commerce and Industries and others.
