Congress today bagged seven out of 15 seats in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil elections, for which results have been declared so far.
National Conference (NC) was following Congress closely, bagging five seats in the 26-member LAHDC Kargil, officials said.
Three independent candidates - two of them unopposed - were declared elected as counting for the remaining seats was going on, officials said.
Opposition Peoples Democratic Party and BJP have so far drawn a blank.
Although NC and Congress are running a coalition government in the state, they contested the elections separately.
Deputy Commissioner Kargil Fida Hussain, who is also the election authority, said all results are expected to be out in the next three hours.
Polls for electing new councillors to the LAHDC Kargil, which was established in 2003 on the pattern of a similar council in Leh district, were held on August 22.
