The Congress in Arunachal Pradesh today sought early intervention of Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra in the Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) compensation scam and urged him to direct the state government to hand over the case to CBI or any other central investigation agency for fair and transparent investigation.
A delegation of the Arunanchal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) led by its president Takam Sanjoy submitted a memorandum to the governor apprising him of the multi-crore embezzlement while disbursing compensation to the beneficiaries in the portions of TAH at Lower Subansiri and Kamle districts of the state, a party release said here.
It claimed that the governor assured the delegation to look into the matter at his own level and to take up with the Centre as well as state government.
It may be recalled that sleuths of Special Investigation Cell (Vigilance) of state police on July 3 last arrested former Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Kemo Lollen, District Land Revenue and Settlement Officer (DLRSO) Bharat Lingu and businessman Likha Maj for their alleged involvement in the compensation scam in the Joram to Koloriang portion of the TAH.
Lollen, during his tenure as DC is alleged to have been involved in gross irregularities in assessment and disbursement of compensation in relation to the TAH project.
An amount of Rs 40 crore was sanctioned for construction of the Joram to Koloriang stretch of TAH, which was funded by the Centre through National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).
