Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today slammed the Congress for indulging in "negative politics" and alleged that the opposition party was trying to defame the state and the country by raking up issues like Godhra riots, demonetisation and surgical strikes.
"The Congress is trying to defame Gujarat and the country by raking up issues like Godhra riots, demonetisation, and surgical strikes. It is indulging in negative politics, while the BJP is committed to do positive politics," a release quoted Rupani as saying.
The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering at Ambaji in Banaskantha district at the concluding ceremony of 'Adivasi Vikas Gaurav Yatra' organised by state BJP.
"Congress is also trying to malign Kutch's image over the issue of Naliya gangrape. But the people of Gujarat have already wiped out Congress from the state.
"BJP keeps only one factor in mind-- working for the development of 6.5 crore Gujaratis. BJP has taken several steps for the welfare of Dalits. We have not left any stone unturned to maintain law and order in the state. BJP is the party of poor, suppressed, tribals and Dalits and the government has been working for their upliftment," the release quoted the CM as saying.
The 'Adivasi Vikas Gaurav Yatra' covered 15 districts in ten days. The yatra, which began on February 7 from Unai in South Gujarat, was organised with the aim to connect with state's tribal population and covered 33 assembly segments, BJP said in a statement.
At the concluding ceremony, Rajya Sabha MP Parshottam Rupala and Gujarat BJP president Jitu Vaghani were also present.
