The continued protests by TDP members in Parliament has exasperated Congress keen on early passage of food security bill but BJP is not ready to play ball for action against them.
While there were indications from the ruling party that the Chair in both the Houses could be left with no option other than naming the protesing members and keep them out when the bill is passed, Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj said she will not support any such move.
Sources said Swaraj opposed any any move to suspend the TDP members or name them.
At the AICC briefing, Congress spokesperson Sandip Dikshit gave signals that the party's patience was thinning noting that every protest has to have a "reasonable time" and pointed out that only the four TDP members are "holding the entire House to ransom".
"It is unfortunate and not good that four persons are holding the entire House to ransom. I will request the MPs to listen to the voice of all other members...There is a reasonable time for any protest...Everybody should stick to the reason of Parliament," Dikshit said.
Asked whether any action can be taken against the four Lok Sabha MPs of TDP who are protesting on the issue of Telangana, he said "that is up to the Speaker".
He said Sushma Swaraj had also spoken to them and he hopes that the members will listen to the voice of the House.
Swaraj said in the Lok Sabha today that she she requested the TDP MPs, agitating in the Well since the session began, to shift their protest to Mahatma Gandhi's statue outside Parliament House.
Sharad Yadav (JD-U) said he has also spoken to TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu in this regard. "I appeal to them not to obstruct the work of Parliament and not to lose the sympathy we have," he said.
