Various programmes, including commemorative meetings, were organised across the state by the party, which is heading the UDF Ministry.
Leaders, including Ministers and MLAs, paid tributes to Nehru at the KPCC headquarters Indira Bhavan here.
Addressing the gathering, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said people would not accept attempts by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP to "cover-up" the contributions of iconic leaders like Mahathma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi.
Stating that the five-year Plan, launched by Nehru, was the foundation of all progress made by the country, he said Nehru was a leader who raised his voice against imperialism upholding his non-alignment policy.
Similar events were conducted by the district, block and mandalam committees of KPCC across the state, a release said here.
