Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal today alleged that the ongoing attacks on Akali workers in Punjab had made it clear that the ruling Congress in the state had given a "go-ahead" to its cadre "to indulge in vendetta politics".
It also seemed that the state police had been "informally co-opted in this vendetta drive" by the Congress, he told reporters here.
"There can be no other reason for the continuing murderous attacks on Akali workers," said Sukhbir.
The former Punjab deputy chief minister also alleged that the Congress government had "fine-tuned its response to every barbaric act unleashed on Akali workers".
"Each time, the government offers lip service and asks the administration to act against the offenders. In spite of that, the attacks are continuing. It is obvious that the Congress workers know that the government is not serious about putting an end to this vendetta drive and thus, they continue to attack the Akali workers at will," he said.
The SAD chief said his party will take up the cases of vendetta politics unleashed by Congress workers in the court of law.
"We will also initiate court proceedings against all the officers who abet such cases," said Sukhbir.
