Congress leaders appealed to the electorate to vote for the party to ensure good governance by ending "10 years of misrule" by the ruling Naga People's Front (NPF).
Moily accompanied former minister of social justice and empowerment Mukul Wasnik and AICC secretary in-charge of Nagaland, Luizinho Faleiro, arrived at Dimapur today to oversee poll preparations and held meetings with NPCC leaders.
In one of the meetings, the party released a booklet, "10 years of NPF Misrule in Nagaland - A Decade of Scandals and Corruptions - An Expose".
The booklet alleged that though the state received generous funds for various programmes from the Centre, corruption, mismanagement, nepotism and favouritism ruled the roost during the NPF regime.
The AICC leaders also scrutinized the list of candidates prepared by the NPCC to be sent for the approval of the high command, NPCC sources said. The last date for filing nominations is February 6.
So far, no major political parties, including ruling NPF, have announced lists of candidates. NPCC, however, has announced that all the 18 sitting MLAs would be given tickets.
Meanwhile, five independent MLAs, who were associate members of ruling NPF, yesterday resigned from the state assembly to facilitate their joining in the NPF.
Under anti-defection law, they can not join a political party unless they resign from the assembly.
To this affect, a notification issued by the Nagaland assembly secretariat today said Speaker Kiyanilie Peseyie accepted their resignations.
