A party General Secretary disapproved of the IYC action during a meeting of the general secretaries yesterday which was called to discuss the future strategy on the land ordinance, party sources said.
The sources said that the refrain of the office bearer was that such demonstrations at the headquarters of a rival party should be averted at all costs as they go against the democratic spirit.
His contention was that in a democracy, it will be in fitness of things if parties reach out to the people to protest against the programmes and policies of its rivals and impress upon them how they are against their interests.
The ordinance makes significant changes in the Land Acquisition Act including removal of consent clause for acquiring land for five areas -- industrial corridors, PPP projects, rural infrastructure, affordable housing and defence.
Under the amended law, the mandatory "consent" clause and Social Impact Assessment will not be applicable if the land is acquired for five purposes.
