Congress is expected to make only a passing reference to the Aam Aadmi Party factor in the resolution at the AICC meeting here on January 17, apparently trying to play down the buzz caused by Arvind Kejriwal's party across the country.
Party sources said the AICC meeting, which will have only one resolution, is unlikely to play up the emergence of AAP following its stunning good show in Delhi Assembly polls last month.
Reports earlier had it that the Aam Aadmi Party factor is expected to be the focus of the AICC meeting called to prepare a strategy for Lok Sabha elections.
Just three days ago, Rahul Gandhi, who had spoken of the need to learn from AAP, held a meeting of leaders entrusted with the process of selection of Congress candidates for Lok Sabha poll.
At the meeting, the Congress Vice President had pitched for giving Lok Sabha tickets to ordinary workers and those having a clean image as he unveiled a "new process" that will see early declaration of Congress nominees.
Apparently taking a leaf from the success of AAP, Rahul told the leaders that while deciding candidates, views of local people should be given prime importance and ordinary party workers be given their due in the selection.
This is the first AICC meeting after Rahul Gandhi was made the party Vice President last January. There is speculation that the young leader could be projected the PM candidate by the party at the meet.
