Flaying Congress for "befooling" people of Jammu and Kashmir by issuing statements against NC, opposition PDP today said both coalition partners were equally responsible for not fulfilling their promises.
"Congress is befooling people by issuing statements against National Conference (NC). Being a partner of the government, Congress is equally responsible for not fulfilling promises made to people," former Rajya Sabha member and vice-president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Trilok Singh Bajwa said while addressing a function to welcome NC leader Yash Pal Bhagat into party fold.
Bhagat, along with many of his supporters, joined PDP here. Bhagat had contested the 2008 Assembly elections from Bishnah constituency on a NC ticket.
Though a number of promises were made to the residents of border areas during the past nearly five years, the NC-Congress government has done nothing to fulfil them, Bajwa alleged.
A number of promises were made to the residents of border areas, but all remained on papers, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, PDP candidate from Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat Yash Pal Sharma lambasted both Congress and NC.
Bhagat said he decided to join PDP due to the policies and programmes of the party, and added that its visionary agenda was the only practical and viable solution to the state's woes.
