Cong not aggressive enough in Maha legislature: Rane

Newly-appointed Congress MLC Narayan Rane has rued the "lack of aggression" in his party in the state legislature and conveyed it to senior party leader P Chidambaram.
Rane raised the issue at a dinner hosted yesterday by the Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil for newly-elected Rajya Sabha member from the state, P Chidambaram as well as MLC Rane, a party source said today.
Congress members from both the Houses were also present at the dinner.
According to a source who was present, Rane, while praising party president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi for getting him inducted in the Council, alleged that Congress "lacks aggression" despite the Devendra Fadnavis government's performance "being very poor".

"BJP government is the worst in recent times and there is unrest in society against it. In such a scenario, we must act aggressively against the ruling party. Unfortunately, we don't have the strategy to corner this government," the source quoted Rane as telling Chidambaram.
Rane, a former Chief Minister, said all MLAs and MLCs should reach the Assembly complex before time.

"If members reach before the business of the House begins, we can discuss the strategy to be adopted in the House...Performance of Congress is poor as compared to NCP in both the Houses," he said.
Rane also advised the party's state chief Ashok Chavan to formulate a strategy for the elections to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, slated early next year.

According to the source, Chavan praised Chidambaram for his tenure as union Home Minister during the UPA rule.
Chidambaram assured Rane that his suggestions will be conveyed to the party president said he will be available for the party and will reach any place of the state where his presence would be needed.
He also thanked the Congress president and vice-president for the opportunity to become a RS member from Maharashtra, the source said.
