Cong questions PM's silence on Lalit Modi row

Congress today questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "silence" on the row surrounding Sushma Swaraj and Vasundhara Raje over their links with tainted ex-IPL boss Lalit Modi.
Why has the Prime Minister not said anything on the issue, senior Congress leader Gurudas Kamat asked while addressing party workers at Palanpur town in Banaskantha district.
"The poll promise of crediting Rs 15 lakh in bank accounts of Indian citizens after retrieving black money has turned out to be fake. That was just a cheating. The Union and state (Gujarat) governments have failed to curb the burgeoning inflation. Corruption has increased incessantly," he said.

Kamat kicked off 'Jan Sampark Yatra' (mass contact drive) of his party ahead of the upcoming local body elections.
His diatribe is in tune with the Congress's strategy to corner the Prime Minister for keeping mum on the controversy that has embroiled two top leaders of the BJP.
While Swaraj, the External Affairs Minister, facilitated securing travel documents for Lalit in UK, Vasundhara Raje, the Rajasthan Chief Minister, reportedly backed his immigration plea.

The ex-IPL boss is facing ED probe for alleged forex violations.
"...Prime Minister is causing harm to this nation for his personal interest. BJP's real face has been exposed before people," Kamat said.

Referring to comments of BJP patriarch L K Advani that Emergency-like situation may recur, he said, "What Advani meant to say is that the current situation is like that of Emergency."
Kamat also attacked Modi over his foreign tours and for ignoring farmers. "The Prime Minister roams abroad but has no time to visit farmers in any district of the country.
