Cong slams PM for not visiting weather-hit farmers

Congress today attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting farmers suffering hardships and losses due to untimely rains.
"Congress president Sonia Gandhi visited affected farmers in Punjab, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh... But the Prime Minister did not go anywhere... His mind is on tour to France, Germany and Canada," former Union minister and senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh told reporters here.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit these nations from April 9 to 16.
"During the UPA government, whenever there was any danger to farmers, relief was announced immediately but the NDA government has not done any such thing so far," Ramesh said.

"There should not be any delay in providing relief package to farmers as they have suffered massive losses due to untimely rains and hailstorm," he demanded.
