Congress accuses Samajwadi Party of nepotism

The Uttar Pradesh unit of Congress today charged the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) with indulging in casteism and nepotism and alleged that the disciples of socialist ideologue Ram Manohar Lohia were not following his ideals.
"Ram Manohar Lohia had professed the path of jaati todo, samaaj jodo, but in the case of SP it is the opposite as they are indulging in the politics of caste and family," UPCC president Nirmal Khatri said at a protest organised by the party against the hike in power tariff in the state.
"As of now there are some ten members of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's family active in politics, but by the time elections are held their numbers could go up," Khatri said.

"Yadav's grandsons would also become MPs or MLAs," said the Congress leader on a lighter note.
On the tiff between Yadav and BSP president Mayawati, he said that it was a "drama and both are merely interested in looting the state."
After the protest, Congressmen marched towards the collectorate and submitted a memorandum against the hike in power price.
The protest, however, saw a poor attendance from partymen. Power tariff in the state was recently hiked by around 40 per cent.
