"The people of Chhattisgarh are hurt because the BJP chief, whose name has recently surfaced in several cases of corruption, will be inaugurating the statehood day celebrations," said state Congress president Nandkumar Patel.
The participation of Congress in the function is out of question, he said.
Patel and leader of the opposition Ravindra Choubey, have already issued a joint statement protesting the move.
Chief ministers of Jharkhand, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh are expected to attend the celebrations.
