"There has to be content for me to opt for a role irrespective of the medium. It is the king for me. I do not want to cheat on my acting as it is not just my career but also my passion," Mridul told PTI.
The "Page 3' star says she decided to become a part of the Nikhil Advani-directed show because of the strong character and the concept of the show.
The actress, who never saw herself in commercially-driven cinema, says times are changing and even women are getting more meaty roles in movies.
"I never found myself to be part of commercially-driven cinema. Earlier, women would not get stronger roles to play but now things have changed."
The actress feels TV is as important as cinema and it is good that more and more directors are turning towards it.
"I always feel television is an important medium. There is something for ever body on television. Mahesh Bhatt's production is already there and I hope more and more directors come on TV with really good shows."
"I like doing theatre the most because I like the idea of being live on stage. Theatre gives you that opportunity. It is the real test of creativity for an actor as well as director."
The actress hopes that through the show, audience is able to empathise with the families of the jawans and prisoners and the pain they go through.
