A police party, dispatched to trace two French trekkers missing for six days in Triund area near Mcleodganj, has lost touch with the headquarters and is untraceable.
Another team has been sent to snow-capped Dhauladhar hills to trace the three policemen and the missing trekkers, officials said.
Helicopters have also been pressed into service to locate them, they said adding the air search operation, which began at around 3 pm, was hampered due to inclement weather.
Both the french trekkers, in their 20s, had moved towards the snowline to explore higher reaches when they went missing.
Mcleodganj station in-charge Gurbachan Singh said "the three cops are still untraceable".
On August 19, a group of 32 foreigners had started trekking to Triund area from Gola Mata temple, a local deity, at Naddi near Mcleodganj.
Xabir, aged 20, and Velinton (21) decided to move towards the snowline while the others returned to Naddi on August 21.
When they did not return, their friends informed the police.
A French Embassy official arrived at Dharamsala to take stock of the ongoing search operation to locate the missing trekkers.
Social attache French Embassy, Atul Srivastava, had also arrived in the hill town and held a meeting with the district administration.
