CBI Special Judge Kanwal Jeet Arora held guilty Dr S C Mittal, the then Principal Scientific Officer and Head of Division (Documents), and V K Khanna, also a Principal Scientific Officer, both in the CFSL wing of the agency here, under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Besides the two officials, the court has also convicted Delhi resident Ramesh Sharma in the corruption case.
"Accused S C Mittal, V K Khanna and Ramesh Sharma are convicted for the offences punishable under section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC read with section 167 (public servant framing an incorrect document with intent to cause injury) of IPC and sections of Prevention of Corruption Act," the court said, adding that it will hear the arguments on the point of sentence on October 11.
According to CBI, in 2005 Mittal, Khanna and Sharma had allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy to give undue advantage to Sharma in a case of property dispute filed by him against his brother.
"In pursuance of the criminal conspiracy, both the CFSL officials abused their official position as public servants and framed a report giving a wrong opinion as experts and forwarded the said report to additional SHO, Defence Colony Police Station for submission in the court in order to favour Sharma," CBI had said.
CBI had said that there was a conversation between Sharma and Khanna, which clearly indicates their involvement.
