Court extends interim bail of Kripashankar Singh till Nov 18

A sessions court here today extended the interim bail of former Maharashtra minister Kripashankar Singh and four members of his family in connection with a disproportionate assets case against them.
The court had on October 13 granted interim bail to Singh and his family members. They have moved the court seeking bail after a charge sheet was filed against them. None of them are arrested yet.
"The court has extended the interim bail till November 18. The complainant Sanjay Tiwari has filed an intervention application and it will be decided on the next date of hearing," said Singh's lawyer K H Giri.

Giri said the court will first decide on 'locus standi' (right to be heard in the matter) of the complainant and then hear him on the point of bail to Singh and others.
Tiwari had earlier moved the Bombay High Court seeking registration of case against Singh and his family members.
The case was filed in February, 2012 after the high court directed the Mumbai police to investigate allegations of criminal misconduct and disproportionate assets against Singh.
Tiwari's PIL said Singh and his relatives had assets of Rs 320 crore, which was disproportionate to their known sources of their income.

Singh, former Mumbai Congress chief, was close to the former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda -- who was arrested in a hawala scam -- and there were several monetary transactions between them, the PIL alleged.
