CPI today demanded the sacking of entire Oommen Chandy cabinet in Kerala after Chief Minister and his ministerial colleague were accused of accepting bribe in solar scam and stated the Congress leader has no moral right to continue in office after "sullying" the image of the CMO.
"Oommen Chandy government has lost its credibility completely. It has no moral right to continue in office. Given the charges are against the head of the government, the entire cabinet has to go," CPI national secretary D Raja said.
Raja noted that nature of the charges Chandy is facing is "quite serious" and the amount the Chief Minister is accused of accepting mattered "little".
"The size of the amount matters little here. Such allegations against someone occupying a Chief Minister's post are quite serious. Hence, he must go or else how will the law will take its course?" the Parliamentarian said.
The Congress-led UDF government in Kerala was today at the receiving end with Chandy facing the heat in the solar scam with a prime accused alleging that bribes of over Rs two crore had been paid to him and a minister in his cabinet, even as the Opposition demanded Governor's intervention.
The development comes barely days after the resignation of Excise Minister K Babu hours after a vigilance court directed registering of an FIR against him in the bar bribery case.
