CPI-M state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra alleged that several workers of the party and their houses have been attacked by "goons" of TMC.
"This is part of the post-poll violence that TMC has let loose on workers of CPI(M) and opposition parties. The Election Commission should take action regarding it," he said.
Lashing out at TMC for its 'inhuman attitude', he said, "Even small kids are not spared. They (TMC) are so inhuman that they are even attacking small kids. This is barbaric. For the last few days they have been indulging in post-poll violence in various parts of the state, especially in Jadavpur, Kasba, Behala and other parts of the city."
"I don't want to say anything regarding it (allegations). Nothing of this sort has happened. Those who only sit in air conditioned rooms are making these false allegations. The results on May 19 will shut their mouths.
"I appeal to TMC workers to not reply to any kind of provocation. We believe in peace," Chatterjee said.
CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury had shot off a letter to the EC earlier this week alleging post-poll violence against the party workers by TMC and urging the commission to ensure security to stop it.
