CPI(M), Cong flay Centre over abrogation of Article 370

The CPI(M) and Congress in Kerala on Monday flayed the Centre's decision to abolish Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, with the Opposition leader saying BJP has been writing the obituary of the Constitution since the day they came to power.

State Industries minister E P Jayarajan said the abolishing of Article 370 was a "blow" to Indian democracy.

The government today abolishedArticle 370 andmoved a separate bill to bifurcate the state into two separateunion territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

"The RSS and the BJP does not agree with the ideology of unity in diversity.

The Centre simple implemented the idea of the RSS. The bifurcation of Kashmir amounts to destroying the secularism of the nation," Jayarajan said in his Facebook post.

Opposition Leader in the assembly Ramesh Chennithala said the BJP has implemented their agenda by "silencing" the people and their leadership.

"The BJP has now created a situation similar to the partition in 1947.

The BJP government has implemented their bifurcation agenda by silencing the people and its leadership.

The saffron party has been writing the obituary of the Indian Constitution since the day they came to power," Chennithala said.

He said the Centre's move would make trouble makers create more issues in the valley.

"Through this bifurcation, Modi and Shah had divided the people of India. It will give fodder to create more trouble at the already violence-torn state.

This democratic coup was done without any proper discussion in Parliament," Chennithala said in a release.

Some opposition parties termed the scrapping of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and its bifurcation into two union territories as a "black blot".

Meeting a long-held promise of the BJP, Union Home Minister Amit Shah moved a resolution in the Rajya Sabha that Article 370, which allowed Jammu and Kashmir to have its own Constitution, will no longer be applicable.
