CPI(M) today said the process of political dialogue with all shades of opinions, including separatists, should be started and demanded that al all-party delegation visit Srinagar without further delay to defuse the crisis.
"I have not seen the continuation of such month-long curfew anywhere... Let an all-party delegation leave for Srinagar to meet people there to assuage their feelings and grievances without any further delay," CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said here.
He said the problem in the valley cannot be termed as law and order issue and has to be solved through political dialogue.
Asked whether he is for dialogue with separatists, Yechury said, "It has to be with all shades of opinions, including separatists. We have done it in the past and it has worked."
"I have told the Home Minister about it a month back to start the political dialogue and again I am saying this," he said.
Asked about continuance of AFSPA, he said, "Army should be withdrawn from the civilian area. It should only remain in border areas to check infiltration. It has been done in Tripura."
Taking on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of attacks by cow vigilante, he said, "In the name of cow protection, you cannot kill people. PM's statement is too little and too late."
In the last two years, PM has not given any assurance in the House nor said that action will be taken in accordance with the law, he said.
