"Altogether 229 amendments had been moved by the delegates to the report and 11 of which were accepted. The review report was put to the vote and accepted," CPI (M) politburo member Brinda Karat said today, adding that 42 delegates participated in the discussion.
"Priority should be given to enhance the independent role of the party and expanding its strength and mass base. The forthcoming 'tactical line' should be able to give a concrete direction and content to the struggle against the Hindutva forces and the communal ideology at the political, ideological and organisational planes," the report said in an apparent indication that CPI (M) will continue its struggle against the BJP and its allied forces.
As per the report, the electoral tactics should dovetail with the primacy of building the Left and Democratic Front as with the present stage, given the role of the regional parties, there is no basis for forging an alliance with them at the national level.
It also stated that the main direction of CPI (M)'s attack should be against the BJP when it is in power, but this should not be construed as having an electoral understanding with the Congress, and the fight against the RSS and the BJP should not be reduced to merely electoral tactics.
The CPI (M) felt the implementation of the 'political tactical line' depends on the party organisation and its capacity to do so effectively.
It said the tactical line cannot be properly implemented unless the organisation is equipped to work among people and draws them into class and mass struggles and consolidates the mass influence politically.
