Crompton Greaves shares surge over 9% on smart earnings

Shares of electrical equipment maker Crompton Greaves today surged over 9 per cent after the company reported an 27.67 per cent rise in standalone net profit for the third quarter ended December 31.
At the NSE, the scrip ended 9.18 per cent higher at Rs 111.75.
Crompton Greaves's scrip rose by 7.91 per cent to settle at Rs 110.45 on the BSE.
Crompton Greaves had yesterday reported an 27.67 per cent rise in its standalone net profit at Rs 135.54 crore for the third quarter ended December 31.
The company had posted a profit of Rs 106.16 crore in the same period of previous fiscal.
Its total income increased to Rs 1,867.65 crore in the October-December 2013 quarter compared to Rs 1,746.05 crore during the same period a year ago.
Meanwhile, the company's Board of Directors declared an interim dividend of 20 per cent i.E. Rs 0.40 per share.
