Crowds throng Gateway of India to see FIFA U-17 WC Trophy

Mumbaikars thronged the iconic Gateway of India here to have a glimpse of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Trophy which was kept there this evening.
Maharashtra Sports Minister Vinod Tawde; President of Mumbai District Football Association and Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray and CEO of Western India Football Association (WIFA), Henry Menezes also came to be part of the Trophy Experience and got pictures clicked with the Winner's Trophy.
As part of the Mumbai leg of the Trophy Experience, FIFA Legends Carlos Valderrama, Emmanuel Amuneke, Fernando Morientes, Jorge Campos and Marcel Desailly had played an exhibition match at the DY Patil Stadium in neighbouring Navi Mumbai.
Yesterday, the Winner's Trophy was placed at Mumbai Football Arena at Andheri Sports Complex where a Mission XI Million festival was taking place. Children participating, hence had the opportunity to see the glorious silverware up-close.
The Winner's Trophy will make its way to the 'land of beaches' next, and will be on display in Goa across different locations from September 15 to 17.
India will host the FIFA U-17 World Cup for the first time and the tournament begins on October 6 with games in Navi Mumbai and Delhi.
Navi Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kolkata, Kochi and Goa are the six venues where the matches will be played.
