Restrictions have been imposed on movement of people in seven police station areas of Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowhatta, Safakadal, Maharaj Gunj, Maisuma and Kralkhud in the city, police said.
They said the decision to continue restrictions in some parts of the city was taken in view of the apprehensions of law and order problems.
Police and paramilitary CRPF forces have been deployed in strength in sensitive areas to maintain law and order, they said.
Police has put all separatist leaders including Geelani and Mirwaiz under house arrest. Malik is lodged at police station Kothibagh since Wednesday evening.
Apprehending law and order problem in view of proposed public meeting in Anantnag to condole the death of truck conductor Zahid in the petrol bomb attack and attempts by Shia mourners to take out a procession to mark 8th Muharram, authorities had yesterday imposed strict restrictions in various parts of the city.
Restrictions imposed in some areas of south Kashmir on Monday will continue even today, police said.
Meanwhile, Kashmir University and Publice Service Commission have postponed examinations scheduled for today.
